About the Role:

Your Coop are looking for a Senior Food Buyer to join our society. We’re a multi-business group operating in Food Retail, Childcare, Funeral-care, Travel, Post Office, Pharmacy and Utilities, meaning you will get a breadth of multi-sector experience in a complex and fast-moving organisation. As a Food Buyer you will be responsible for: 
 
Be responsible for sourcing new premium food supplier for Midcounties Co-operative stores, to approve and maintain relationships with partners through regular meetings. Accountable for cost price negotiation to ensure margin targets are attained.
To document and strategize events and seasonal activity in order to review and improve on in the future.
To ensure the growth of sales throughout specific Midcounties Co-operative stores through review of commercial performances, discussing the performance with our suppliers and take necessary steps to address shortfalls
To drive footfall in stores through strong promotional activity and working alongside marketing to promote this whilst maintaining and managing the supplier Buying Investment Plans (BIPS).
Communicate effectively between our suppliers, fellow operations colleagues and Midcounties Co-operative stores.
Conduct full compliance reviews of suppliers to ensure all suppliers are within agreed parameters
Work in conjunction with the retail team to implement best practice.
To attend relevant trade exhibitions in UK/Europe to support growth strategy.
Regular communication with specific Midcounties Co-operative stores to ensure that all food/grocery queries are dealt with in an effective manner.
Work with our partners to support them in defining our seasonal ranges and continually review performance
Increase productivity within range through the effective management of surplus stock.
Produce weekly and monthly updates for management review.
Adhere to the society’s Buying and Distribution Processes to ensure the society values are maintained
To manage the Buying Assistant with their daily and weekly routines and ensure the review process is in place as per societies policy

About You:

 To be a successful candidate for this role you will need: 
 
Previous experience as a buyer in the FMCG sector
Strong management skills in order to provide clear support and direction to the Buying Assistant
Maintains strong and profitable working relationships with external partners
Ensure that performance reviews are conducted within the appropriate time scales
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Analytical and high levels of numeracy and literacy
Strong communication skills & ability to communicate effectively at all levels
